Summer is usually the time when we go visit our family in Costa Rica, but this year air travel was out of the question for us. So we decided to make it an adventure and go on a 12-hour family road trip from Florida to North Georgia. After a long debate about whether we should drive all at once or divide the trip in two, we decided that dividing the trip would make it easier on the kids and ourselves. So, we basically drove roughly 6 hours each day.
I am not going to lie, the kids spent a great part of the car ride watching movies or playing games on their tablets. But since one of my kids’ favorite game is I-Spy, we made 2 variations that they played when they wanted to do something different:
I-Spy Bottles!
Your child will love to play I-Spy with these bottles. Besides being amazing for road trips, they are also perfect for quiet time.
Alphabet I-Spy
For this game, you can use a letter-board or create your own letter-cards, and the cool thing is that you can play alone or as a group. The idea is that you have to find something that starts with each letter, and every time you find the object you just scratch that letter off. The goal is to finish the whole alphabet.
Products that will make your life easier
These are two products that we loved and I 100% recommend to everyone taking a road trip with little kids.
The first one is the Kalencom Potette Plus 2-in-1 Travel Potty. We actually got this potty when my first daughter was around 3 years old (She is now 7! OMG). Since then, we can’t live without it.
One of my major concerns of the road trip was making bathrooms breaks with the kids. It was really hard for me to imagine the idea of stopping to go to a public bathroom with my 3 kids, in the middle of the COVID pandemic. I could literally feel the stress just by thinking about how I would prevent them from touching everything! So, I’m not lying when I say that this product was a real life saver for me ☺️. The cool thing about this product is that you can use it in your car and then just throw away the bag. I did this little video to show you how it works.
The other thing I recently discovered is that you can use a ROKU stick in your car! A ROKU is a device that basically transforms your regular TV into a Smart TV, so you can watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. If your car comes with an entertainment system and an HDMI connector, you just have to set it up using your phone’s hotspot as the WIFI. So no more frustration every time your kids want to watch a movie and the DVD is scratched (happened to us more than once 😔); they can now watch their favorite movies from Amazon, Netflix and more.
I really hope that you find these products and games very useful in your next trip, but remember that the most important thing is to relax, admire the view and enjoy the time together ♥️.

Usualmente nos gusta ir a Costa Rica en el verano para que los niños pasen un largo tiempo con la familia, pero este año no nos sentíamos cómodos viajando en avión, por lo que decidimos hacer un viaje familiar de 12 horas en carro desde Florida hasta el norte de Georgia. Después de debatirnos si debíamos manejar las 12 horas seguidas o dividir el paseo en dos, decidimos parar en la mitad y dormir una noche para descansar y hacer el viaje más placentero. Además, aprovechamos para conocer un lugar nuevo.
No voy a mentir, los niños pasaron una gran parte del viaje en carro viendo películas o jugando en sus tabletas. Pero como uno de los juegos favoritos de mis hijos es “Veo Veo”, hicimos dos variaciones para que tuvieran juegos listos por si querían hacer una actividad divertida.
Botellas para jugar Veo-Veo!
A tu hijo le va a encantar jugar “Veo-Veo” con estas botellas. Además de usarlas para paseos en carro, también son perfectas para cuando necesites juegos tranquilos. Por ejemplo, antes de dormir.
“Veo Veo” – Alfabeto.
Para este juego, puedes usar un tablero de abecedario o crear tus propias tarjetas con letras. Lo que más me gusta de este juego es que se puede jugar solo o en grupo. La idea es que se debe encontrar una cosa que empiece con cada letra del abecedario. Cada vez que se encuentre algo, se tacha la letra y el objetivo es hacer el abecedario completo.
Estos productos te van a hacer el viaje más fácil
Estos son dos productos que nos encantaron, y los recomiendo 100% a todos los que estén planeando un paseo en carro con niños.
El primero es el la bacinilla portátil Kalencom Potette Plus 2-in-1. Realmente nosotros compramos esta bacinilla cuando mi hija mayor tenía 3 años (Ahora tiene 7!), y desde ahí no podemos vivir sin esta.
Una de nuestras preocupaciones más grandes en el paseo era hacer las paradas para ir al baño. No podía concebir la idea de bajarme a un baño público con mis 3 hijos en medio de la pandemia de Coronavirus. Me causaba estrés tan sólo el pensar maneras de lograr que mis hijos no tocaran todo en el baño! Entonces no estoy mintiendo cuando digo que esta bacinilla fue una salvación para mí ☺️. Lo que me encanta de este producto es que lo puedes usar en el carro y al final solo botas la bolsa. Hice este video para que veas cómo funciona.
La otra cosa que descubrí recientemente es que puedes usar el ROKU stick en el carro. El ROKU es un dispositivo que se usa para convertir la televisión normal en una televisión inteligente, y poder ver aplicaciones como Netflix, HULU, etc. Si tu carro viene con un sistema de entretenimiento y tiene un conector HDMI solo lo tienes que instalar usando tu hotspot del teléfono como red de WIFI. Así que se acabaron las frustraciones de no poder ver la película que tus hijos quieren porque el DVD está rayado (nos pasó mil veces!) Ahora pueden ver sus shows favoritos en el carro y tienen una increíble selección.
De verdad espero que te sirvan mucho estos productos y juegos en tu próximo paseo, pero recuerda que lo más importante es relajarte, admirar el camino y disfrutar el tiempo juntos ♥️.
